Long Island Paranormal Investigators’ study of
the K2 meter (also referred to as K-2, KII, K-II) was conceived and planned to research the
assertion of
the claimed designer
of this EMF meter: That the K2 EMF meter device facilities communication with ghosts/spirits
by allowing the entity to indicate yes/no answers to question.
Thesis: It is said by proponents of the K2 that a ghost/spirit can be “taught”
to move closer to the K2 meter causing the LED display to jump multiple times
in order to indicate positive or negative responses. More specifically that a
K2 meter is the singular EMF meter tool for this type of investigation as
opposed to the vast array of other models/types of EMF meters used by paranormal
investigators for ghost/spirit detection. This activity relies on the paranormal
theory that ghosts/spirits are at least in part electrically based and as such
produce an EMF. Ghosts/spirits can be instructed that by moving towards and away
from the meter it can show yes/no responses to questions posed by the
investigator.
Study Design: LIPI purchased a
K2 meter from LessEMF.com. We reviewed our
investigations records and determined the top two most paranormally active
locations on Long Island. Our plan is to visit these two
locations at least 5 times each. We will bring the K2 meter as well as all the
other EMF meters Long Island Paranormal Investigators uses (including
digital EMF,
Cellsensor,
Electro sensor,
Trifield meter, etc).
During each investigation
the KII and all the other EMF meters will be arranged in a close circle and
yes/no type questions asked. We will observe if the K-II meter changes in
response to the questions while also observing the other EMF meters. If there is
an ambient EMF field growing/shrinking in strength in response to the questions
that EMF should be detectable by at least some of the other EMF meters besides
the K2. We will also note if the other EMF meters record changes while the K2
remains unchanged.
K2 Meter Background
THEORY:
- Theory # 1: EMF
meters detect electromagnetic fields. In theory when a spirit/ghost
manifests, it gives off an electromagnetic field, which may be picked up by
an EMF meter.
- Theory # 2: In theory a spirit
can communicate with you through this meter by lighting up the LED lights. There would be 2 dashes of light if the answer is yes, and 1 dash of light
if the answer is no. (This is Chris Flemming's theory on the K-II Meter.)
NOTE: At this time LIPI is in the process of testing this theory in
the field.
HOW TO USE: Hold the button on the
front of the meter. Point the meter away from you, scanning the area for
any variations of magnetic fields. If the meter gets a reading try to
locate where the reading is coming from by going over your previous
pathway. When the investigation is complete write down your readings in the
field report.
RANGE: The range on this EMF
meter is 1mg to 20+mg. The range from the meter to the active field is 0 to
6 feet.
READINGS: The unit of
measurement on all EMF meters is milligaus (mg). Normal activity through
this meter is 0mg to 2mg. Paranormal activity occurs between 2.5mg to
10mg. Any readings above 10mg is probably non paranormal. There are many
things that can throw off EMF readings, such as speakers, electrical wires,
television sets, computers, appliances, electrical outlets, romex cable,
power lines etc. The readings for theory # 2 is that the LED lights will
blink twice for yes, and once for no.

Study Results
Updated Summer 2008
Since first receiving our K2 meters in the summer of
2007 Long Island Paranormal Investigators has conducted 41 investigations using
these devices.

Lead Investigator Mike Cardinuto (left) uses a K2 meter and Trifield meter on an
investigation
while other LIPI investigators use different models of EMF meters.
Following is the summary of our study and conclusions
about the K2 meter.

Results: During this investigation there were 3 occurrences we had with it. All of
the activity that was caught with the meter that was in the basement. All
activity responded to some EVP questions. Question 1: "Do you mind that we are
investigating here tonight?" The meter blinked once for (no) up to 10mg, which
is 3 LED lights. Question 2: "Do you mind that this place is being renovated?"
The meter blinked once for (NO) up to 10mg, which is 3 LED lights. Later that night down in the basement when Justin was using the K2 he also ask the
same EVP question "Do you mind that this place is being renovated?", and got
the same response. Possible activity.
Investigation #11: Suffolk County Potters field - November 8, 2007
Used by: Rob Levine and Jaiem Fleischmann
Results: 1mg during the entire investigation. No activity.

Long Beach California - December 4, 2007
Used by: Mike Cardinuto
Results: While investigating in the boiler room with Chris Flemming, while doing an EVP
session the K2 meter jumped to 10mg, which is 3 LED, lights. After the meter
jumped Chris Flemming said that he saw something move to the left of him. Mike
Cardinuto also said that he saw something move. Otherwise during the rest of
the investigation the meter was steady at 1mg. Possible activity.

Overall Results
The
overall result at this study is out of 41 investigations there were 5 possible
occurrences of activity through the K-II Meter. Basically 1 out of every 8
investigations something possibly happened. Overall I would say that at this
time the results that we have gotten do not support the theory of the K-II
meter.
In my judgment I would say that the theory is not consistent enough for
this to be considered a fact for this meter. Even though we did get a few
results, the results that we got were only for a few minutes out of an hour to
about 8 hours of investigating time. As of right now that is our conclusion on
the K-II meter.
We will still research this theory, but I’m sure the results will remain the same.
