Barber Wheatfield

A Brief History: Located at 648 NY-32, Stillwater, NY 12170. Barber Wheatfield was a wheat field turned battlefield on October 7th1777 during the Revolutionary War where the Americans intercepted 1,500 British and German soldiers attempting to outflank the Americans. ​John Burgoyne the British Officer that led this attempted flank, was forced to withdraw his soldiers after losing up to 400 officers and men. Today the Wheatfield is a landmark, marking the location of Barber Wheatfield Battle.


Haunted History: Visitors have claimed to have seen a Colonial Soldier roaming around the grounds and then just disappear. People have also claimed to have heard gunshots and cannon fire at this location.
