Gettysburg Battlefield - Big Round Top

A Brief History: Big Round Top is a boulder strewn hill that made up the southern edge of the Gettysburg Battlefield in the Battle of Gettysburg during the Civil War in 1863. It was also the topographical high point of the entire battlefield as well. Following their heroic battle at Little Round Top, it served as a temporary station for the 20th Maine Regiment that was led by Joshua Chamberlain. It’s most famous battle was the charge made by the 1st Vermont Regiment against the 1st Texas of the Confederates. The 1st Vermont broke the picket lines, but took on heavy fire from all sides and was forced to fall back to their original positions. This ill-fated charge essentially ended the Battle of Gettysburg.

Haunted History: People have claimed to see mists and apparitions in the form of soldiers in person and in photographs taken at the site. There are also claims of hearing gun and cannon fire at night when no re-enactments are taking place. Paranormal investigators have caught many EVPs here and many have also felt strong feelings of uneasiness at the site. Investigations are ongoing at Big Round Top to attempt to capture additional evidence.
