Gettysburg Battlefield - Houck's Ridge

A Brief History: Houck’s Ridge is a strategic location on the Gettysburg Battlefield located in “The Valley of Death” between Little Round Top, Devil’s Den, and The Bloody Wheatfield located on Ayres Avneue. Confederate troops overran this area on the second day of the battle and it served as a staging area for Capt. James E. Smith’s 4th New York Infantry Battery, which anchored the left flank of the Army of the Potomac. Intense fighting occurred on and around the ridge and mass casualties took place on both sides.
Haunted History: With so much death and misery in this area, it should come as no surprise that there are reports of the unexplained sounds of cannon and gun fire, disembodied screams, and unexplained mists and apparitions.
