King Mansion

A Brief History: King Mansion is located at 2201 N. Front St. in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1923 by Horace B. King, a local tax attorney and organizer of Moose Lodges across the United States. Ground breaking on the site took place on March 15, 1923 and was completed in the Spring of 1926. The King Family moved into the house in 1925, prior to completion. The mansion was made up of Indiana Limestone and designed in a Mediterranean style. The interior was designed with grandiosity in mind and featured an indoor swimming pool, billiard room, bowling alley, and shooting range. Mr. King passed away in 1938 and the surviving family members moved out. Over the years, the mansion had multiple owners and was used as a catering hall, a convalescent home, and multi use office space. Today it has been renovated to use as an event space for weddings, private parties, and other large gatherings. Like all historic locations, one has to wonder if all of the former and current tenants are of the human variety.
