Lord Sterling's Quarters Valley Forge

A Brief History: In the Tredyffrin Township of Valley Forge, Chester County, at 553 Yellow Springs Road Malvern Pennsylvania, rests the quarters of Major General William Alexander, Lord Sterling. The quarters were also known as the Homestead Farm in 1800, and Echo Valley Farms, roughly between 1926 to 1973. The oldest part of the home was originally built in 1738, with the two other areas of the building being built and dated back to 1769 as par the middle structure, and the kitchen area being dated between 1791 to 1835. During the American Revolutionary War, it was utilized as headquarters for Lord Sterling during the occupied years of late 1777 to early 1778 during the encampment at Valley Forge. It was registered on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. One other person of interest that was here besides Lord Sterling himself was actually President and Major James Monroe. He quartered here to support and aid to the encampment.  

 

Haunted History: There are claims of hearing someone walking around on the 2nd floor, when no one else is in the house.  While being in the house alone people claim to have a sense of being watched by someone else.  People also claim to have felt unusual cold spots and heard disembodied voices throughout the house.
