Shawnee Inn

A Brief History: The Shawnee Inn is located at 100 Shawnee Inn Drive, East Stroudsburg Pennsylvania, in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains. The hotel originally opened as the Buckwood Inn on June 5th 1911 and was built by Charles Campbell Worthington. The annual Shawnee Open attracted well- known golfers and even hosted the PGA Championship. In 1943 Fred Waring purchased the resort and renamed it the Shawnee Inn. The inn would later begin to offer skiing in 1975. Today the Inn is still operating as a hotel and you are still able to enjoy its rich history.

Haunted History: Visitors have claimed to see a ghostly woman who walks past the lobby into the Dogwood Dining Room. The ghost is also said to use the ladies restroom, locking herself into a stall from the inside and then flushing the toilet. Others have heard disembodied whispers and screams. Rumor has it that the ghostly woman was murdered in a room near the lobby.
