BELLEVUE MANOR

A Brief History: The Bellevue Manor was built c. 1835 and is located at 10 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI 02840. It was a private home most likely and in the early 1800’s Newport was recovering from the aftermath of the Revolutionary War by reinventing itself as a summer resort area. Newport soon became a destination for all kinds of wealthy elite and artists. Also in the 1800s, people often were born and died within their own homes. So while we cannot find any confirmed tragedies or stories about the home, a few people most likely began and ended their lives here. Today it operates as an Inn for tourists coming to visit the town of Newport, RI.

Haunted History: Hotel visitors have claimed to have heard disembodied voices in the middle of the night, as well as a cold chill out of nowhere. There have also been claims of lights flickering on the 3rdfloor when no one was up there.
