A Brief History: The Hotel Viking is located at 1 Bellevue Avenue Newport, Rhode Island. Opened on May 25th, 1926, it was the first grand scale hotel built in Newport and is situated in the historic Bellevue Avenue section of the city. Two additional units were added during the 1970’s and major renovations were done both in 2007 and in 2016 in honor of the hotel’s 90thanniversary. Through the years, it has attracted movie stars, dignitaries, military personnel, and other various members of high society. Good times were had by all in this lavish setting and it undoubtedly left its impression on it’s many guests in its 90+ year history. And perhaps…some of those guests left their impression on the hotel.

Haunted History: For years, guests have reported hearing sounds and noises at all hours of the day and night. It’s often been reported as the sounds of a loud party happening and when hotel staff is sent to investigate there is nothing to be found. Still others have reported doors and windows closing on their own, footsteps, cold spots, and objects being moved. There is no concrete evidence that has been presented since the hotel has never allowed paranormal investigations on the premises. Or, at the very least, they have never allowed any findings to be released to the public. For now, these particular parties are for invited guests only.
